CHECK YOUR CREDIT SCORE You can use a site like creditkarma.com (which uses TransUnion and Equifax) and freecreditscore.com (which uses Experian). These sites provide you with a free credit report and monitoring. You can also find information on these sites on how to improve your credit score.
WORK WITH A LENDER You will want to work with a lender to determine what your budget is for buying a home. You will need to get pre-approval before you start your home search.
MAKE A LIST Make a list of your priorities for a home. Determine what you are looking for in your new home. What are the items you can't live without and what are the items you would like to have but are not deal breakers.
SELECT A REAL ESTATE AGENT Now that you know what you want in a home, it's time to select a real estate agent to help you find your home.
VIEWINGS Now that you have your list of items you want in a home and a qualified real estate agent to help you in your search; it's time to start viewing homes to search for your new place.
