"Why did you leave your career as a "Rocket "Scientist to become a Realtor?"
I get that question a lot. The answer can be long, and while brevity is not always my strong suit, I will do my best to be brief. I think you will agree that Gainesville is not a place where rocket scientists flock to for career opportunities. We returned to Gainesville to be closer to my family. A few years later, it was no longer possible to juggle remote work as an engineer, homeschooling one of my sons with autism and dyslexia, and being the mom-uber zipping all three of my boys to therapies, taekwondo, swim lessons, soccer and so much more.
I was ready for a change! Plus, I really needed to get out of the house and pursue a career where I could spend time with people of my own kind - Adults! In the past I had successfully sold two of my homes, both in less than 30 days. I figured a career as a real estate agent was fitting; plus, my FSBO experience had been fun. I remember thinking to myself, “I’m highly competitive. I love a challenge and I’ve never had a goal I couldn’t achieve, so how hard can this change be?” The answer – A little hard, very different, and a lot of fun.
